Despite countries committing in 2022 to protecting 30% of the globe's land and sea for biodiversity by 2030 in the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, a lack of binding financial commitments risked undermining the 30 x 30 initiative. In December 2024 Atalanta worked with the Campaign for Nature to launch their landmark 'A Fair Share' initiative. The report aimed to ramp up pressure on governments in key geographies to follow through on their nature finance pledges.

The challenge

Our solution
Developed and led a global media campaign to raise awareness of the $20 billion commitment and urge countries to take urgent action.
Drafted the overarching narrative and messages for the campaign, adapted to key markets.
Secured high-profile media coverage globally and in key geographies, ensuring that the narrative and tone protected CfN's relationships with governments.
Drafted and placed influential opinion pieces in outlets that directly reached relevant politicians and policymakers.
Created a stakeholder pack which was distributed to high-profile supporters with content that they could amplify on their platforms.
Supported the online event launching the report, with speakers including Lord Zac Goldsmith and the Hon. Minister of Environment of Sierra Leone, Jiwoh Abdulai.
Our impact
Ramped up pressure on governments to follow through on their nature finance pledges helping Campaign for Nature build and reinforce relationships with journalists, seeding the ground for engagement leading into COP16.
