The Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response (IPPPR) was convened in mid-2020 to understand how COVID-19 escalated into one of the world’s deadliest pandemics and ensure that another similar catastrophe did not catch the world unprepared. To do so, it had to navigate complex geopolitical sensitivities and ensure that its messaging and media engagement prompted coordinated action—rather than defensiveness and blame.

The challenge

Our solution
Developed the core narrative and audience-specific messaging for the launch of IPPPR’s landmark report.
Created a communications strategy that was closely aligned with their stakeholder strategy.
Managed the global media centre and secured international, national, sector, and regional press coverage across five continents.
Created a social media campaign targeting global public health influencers.
Supported a successful launch event, which was well-attended by high-level influencers as well as a separate briefing event for media ahead of the launch.
Our impact
Ensured that the Panel’s recommendations were at the centre of global action on pandemic preparedness including at the United Nations, the G7, and the G20. Their report was influential in shaping the outcomes of the 2023 UN General Assembly High-level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness, and Response.
"The Atalanta team were excellent - from strategic advice through to placement and analysis. We worked with Atalanta to engage media worldwide, and they really delivered. They helped us steer through the waters, and we felt we could not only rely on them, but looked forward to our interactions. Professional, passionate and a pleasure to work with. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Atalanta.”
