Gertrude Asumadu

Gertrude provides research, copywriting, digital, and media support to a range of international clients with a focus on gender equality, women in leadership, and international development.

Prior to joining Atalanta, Gertrude worked with numerous NGOs, including the ONE Campaign, Christian Aid, Child.Org, UNICEF, Restless Development, Amnesty International, and UNDP Asia.

From 2017, Gertrude served as a Youth Ambassador for the ONE Campaign, where she was a key part of the Poverty is Sexist campaign advocating for an increase in funding towards increasing the number of girls in school by 2030. Gertrude’s role in running the campaign in her local community led to her being featured on Amnesty International UK’s Suffragette Spirit Campaign Map in March 2018. Her work with ONE on the Global Fund Campaign earned her coverage in the Yorkshire Evening Postand an award as the ‘Best in MP Advocacy’ in 2022.

Alongside her work with the ONE Campaign, Gertrude has served as a Their World Global Youth Ambassador and was recently a UN Women UK delegate to the 67th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67). She has previously been a Local Pathways Fellow with the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), a Review Panelist for United Nations Systems Staff College (UNSSC), a One Young World Ambassador, an AFS Youth Assembly UK Ambassador, a World Bank Youth Summit Delegate, an African Changemakers Initiative Fellow, and a Speaker at the March 2023 SDG Student Programme’s Global Issue Forum.

Gertrude holds an MSc in Public Administration from Leiden University and a BSc (Hons) Economics from University of Leeds. In her spare time, she is also a writer, a teacher, and a speaker.
