Queenie is an experienced journalist with over a decade of experience working for the travel and entertainment industries. With degrees in journalism and creative writing from the University of Buckingham and the University of Oxford respectively, her academic focus was on travel journalism, gender inequality in media, and non-fiction creative writing. She has worked on the research, writing, editing and social media management teams for Lonely Planet, Huffington Post, and The Culture Trip.
Prior to joining Atalanta in September 2022, Queenie worked with a roster of freelance clients offering ghost-writing as well as editing support and services to names associated with Forbes, the British Entertainment Industry, and CTV’s Your Morning.
Queenie continues to freelance as a senior entertainment journalist at Brown Girl Magazine, responsible for conducting interviews in Hollywood, Bollywood, and the Pakistani entertainment industry, as well as writing pieces on various social and environmental issues in South Asia.
She has lived and worked in several countries, including her ancestral home in Pakistan. She volunteered at The Footpath School in Karachi - originally located under a flyover in the country’s biggest city - and helped 600 street children move into a more permanent location. Alongside Urdu, Queenie is also fluent in Pakistan’s regional language Sindhi.
Queenie is the author of The Poor Londoner, a poetic book based on her experiences of living in the UK. Her case studies on gender inequality in the travel industry have been taught to foundation year students at Sunway College in Malaysia and the University of Istanbul in Turkey.
